This year, physicians were asked to vote online (gaining access with their Maryland medical license number) by entering the names of the doctors they would like to nominate, using categories from the American Board of Medical Specialties as a guideline. You may notice that some of the category headings have changed and some have been omitted. Cosmetic Plastic Surgery, for instance, is not among the headings used by the American Board of Medical Specialties, so it does not appear below. Because of that, the physicians honored in that specialty in the 2009 Top Docs survey will retain their Top Docs status.
The outstanding nominees are all listed below each category heading in alphabetical order; they are all Top Docs.
Additionally, we posed the following question: “If you or a family member needed care for any of the following conditions, who would you recommend?” We then listed particular conditions that might be of special interest to our readers. Those nominees are also in alphabetical order.
Please note that many fine physicians who are either new to the area or affiliated with other medical institutions may not be included. Additionally, this list represents those individuals who received the most substantial number of votes, not everyone who was nominated.
