Cats R Us is an Annapolis based Feline Rescue and Adoption 501(c)3 non-profit, whose focus is TNR or Trap-Neuter-Return. In our TNR program feral cats are humanely trapped by CRU volunteers, then vaccinated, sterilized, and ear-tipped (for identification) by veterinarians at low-cost clinics organized by CRU, and then re-released at their original location when safe for the cat. Feral cats rescued from unsafe locations may stay briefly at one of two Annapolis area CRU shelters before being transferred to a feral cat sanctuary. Domesticated, abandoned cats enter our adoption program when efforts to find their owners are exhausted. Kittens caught early enough are tamed, fully vetted, sterilized, and available for adoption when they are of an appropriate age. CRU makes every effort to keep kittens with their mother until an appropriate age for weaning. When the mother cannot be located, CRU has a small team of foster “nurses” who are essentially feline, neo-natal specialists. The “bottle-babies” are raised with great care, attention, and love. Cats R Us does not accept owner-surrendered pets but can recommend other organizations that may be of assistance. Since 2000, an estimated 10,000 cats have been spayed/neutered and vaccinated at the cost-effective CRU clinics. This has contributed greatly to the prevention of unwanted pets in Anne Arundel County.
