Join in on the fun at the second Annual Annapolis Arts and Crafts Festival, June 11-12, 2011, at the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium in Annapolis, Maryland. This premier event showcases the juried and prize-winning works of more than 200 artists employing a variety of media: painting, sculpture, ceramics, digital art, mixed media, printmaking, jewelry, fiber art, glass, wood, leather, metal and photography. The festival hours are Saturday, June 11, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm; and Sunday, June 12th, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Under a new Wine and Specialty Food Pavilion, festival-goers will be able to sample local wines from eight Maryland wineries: Solomon’s Island Winery; Boordy from Hydes; Fiore Winery and Distillery from northern Harford County; Bordeleau Vineyards and Winery from Maryland’s Eastern Shore; Elk Run Vineyards from Mt. Airy; Slack Winery from Ridge; Knob Hall Winery from Clear Spring, and Cove Point Winery from Lusby, Maryland. A variety of specialty food companies will be providing tastings of everything from cheeses to gourmet flavored oils and balsamic vinegars to nuts, cakes, dips, jams and much more.
A variety of performers will amuse kids at heart from ages five to ninety-five. Easy listening music groups and soloists will perform jazz conducive to a relaxing day “under the tent" while sipping Maryland’s best wines. New to the festival is family entertainment provided by The Infinity Theater Company, featuring selections from the New York City Sinatra Show "My Way" and several mini-presentations of a special show for kids, "Stories - Live and in Person." The Chesapeake Children's Museum will be providing crafts and activities for children, including a face painter.
Admission is $8.00 for Adults, $5.00 for ages 12 to 18 and 65 and over. Children under 12 are admitted free.
The Navy-Marine Corps Stadium has ample free parking, which makes it the ideal venue for the Festival. Directions: take Rt. 50 to Annapolis, take exit 24 (Rowe Blvd) and make the second right onto Taylor Ave. to the entrance at Gate 5.
Plenty of nearby hotel accommodations are available in every price range, and continuous shuttle bus service to downtown and all of the many shops, restaurants and attractions of historic Annapolis is among the many amenities visitors will enjoy while visiting the City of Annapolis for the weekend. Nationally-recognized for its maritime culture, colonial heritage and charming downtown shopping district on the historic City Dock, Annapolis was named one of the nation’s Top 25 Arts Destinations in AmericanStyle magazine’s 12th Annual Arts Designation Poll.
The Annapolis Arts and Crafts Festival is produced by City Dock Productions, an event management company with more than 35 years of experience presenting arts and crafts festivals, music festivals, wine festivals and other consumer product shows and public events. The festival is endorsed by the Arts Council of Anne Arundel County, Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts, The Annapolis Anne Arundel County Conference and Visitors Bureau, Chesapeake Children's Museum, Kids' Directory, and Art Fairs.
