Valley Planning Council Hosts Art for Land’s Sake on October 1st
Famed Designer Stiles Colwill Opens Historic Halcyon Farm
Baltimore, MD: Beginning on October 1st, the Valley Planning Council will host its fourth Art for Land’s Sake. The event features an exhibition and art sale that will benefit the council and land conservation in North Baltimore County. Art for Land’s Sake is a local, non-profit event that takes place just once every other year, so do not miss this opportunity beginning on October 1st to gaze on incredible art, a beautiful, rural property, and support a traditional, Maryland organization doing yeoman’s work in the field of land use planning and conservation.
The showcases at Art for Land’s Sake consist of a select group of artists, both regional and national, who displaying representational and contemporary styles in a wide variety of mediums. The art works are available for purchase at the exhibition, and 35% of the artists’ sales are donated to the Valley Planning Council. The show begins with a preview party on September 30th at Halcyon Farm in Lutherville, Timonium, where guests will be able to view and purchase art while mingling with the dedicated members of the Valley Planning Council.
Halcyon Farm is a 122-acre horse farm just north of Greenspring Valley in Lutherville, Maryland. Stiles T. Colwill owns Halcyon Farm, and has lived in the area his entire life. He is a well-known interior designer and chairman of the board of the Baltimore Museum of Art. Needless to say, his expertise and experience, combined with the use of his outstanding property, will insure an absolutely charming event with fantastic art and wide appeal.
Tickets for the Friday night preview party are still available from the Valleys Planning Council. The price is $125 per person, which includes open bar, heavy hors d’oeuvres, music by the Swanee River Ragtime Band, and first access to the exhibit and sale.
“We are delighted to host this event,” said Mary Louise Foster, chair of Art for Land’s Sake. “It has always been exciting to plan, but the real pay-off for me is seeing local artists come together to support the preservation of land in Baltimore County.”
The show will be open to the public from 12-4 PM for browsing and buying on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, October 1st and October 2nd. Admission to the show on the weekend is 5$ per person. Refreshments will be available along with stunning, remarkable works of art for viewing and purchasing.

The Valleys Planning Council is a non-profit organization established in 1962.
