North Caroline, Soccer, Track and Field
Soccer has been a huge part of Emily Carnochan’s life. Having played the sport since she was four years old, she fully understands the devotion it takes to excel.
“The easiest aspect [of playing soccer] for me is the commitment,” she says. “I love the game so much I never mind going to practice to improve.”
She looks up to U.S. Women’s National Team members Alex Morgan and Abby Wambach and tries to emulate the same dedication they show on a routine basis in order keep herself in shape mentally and physically.
“I enjoy the team aspect of soccer and meeting new people as well as just having fun,” Carnochan says. “These sports are so important to me because they have been in my life for so long. Without soccer I wouldn’t know what to do. They help me to keep my body and mind in shape.”
“Sports take [up] a huge part in my life,” Carnochan added, “whether I have a soccer game or practice or I’m just training and trying to make myself better. Soccer is my life.”
To prepare for a strong senior season, she took part in a preseason college workout, ran at least one mile a day, played soccer, and attended camps throughout the summer.
She hopes to add to her strong soccer resume she has built up over the years, having earned Second Team Bayside Conference as a sophomore and junior and earning MVP her junior year.
Despite her devotion to the game, she knows hitting the books is priority number one.
At North Caroline, she is involved in the Student Government Association, Future Educators of America, and the National Honor Society.
“A good student-athlete puts their academics first and strives on and off the field,” Carnochan says. “Academics are the most important part because academics will take you places when your body no longer can.”
Carnochan is considering attending York College. She’s enamored by their team’s recent success and athletic facility.
After college, she’ll look into becoming involved in teaching and sports management and would love to stay involved with soccer.
