Using state-of-the-art equipment, training, and systems allows Dr. Aufderheide to serve his patients to the best of his ability. He ensures that only the newest and best diagnostic equipment are available to provide optimal treatment options and solutions. He incorporates the latest 3-D scanning imaging systems and integrated computer analysis for optimal Dental Implant and Periodontal treatment planning.
rDr. Aufderheide continues to develop the knowledge and skills of his staff through constant continuing education programs. His own formal education and training is extensive and ongoing. He earned his D.M.D. (Doctor of Dental Medicine) from The University of Pennsylvania in 1992. While in dental school, Dr. Aufderheide attended exchange internships at Harvard School of Dental Medicine and the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons.
rAfter dental school, Dr. Aufderheide completed a two-year dental surgical residency at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio, where he was appointed Chief Resident. He then completed a study program at the Harvard School of Dental Medicine for the management of jaw bone defects and bone regeneration. Dr. Aufderheide proceeded to further his specialty training with a three-year Periodontal and Dental Implant Surgical residency at the Case Western Reserve University of Dental Medicine in associateship with The Cleveland Clinic. During his Periodontal and Implant Surgical training, Dr. Aufderheide was appointed Chief Resident and concurrently completed a research-based Masters Degree program, culminating in a Masters Degree in Periodontal Microbiology (M.S.D.) in 1997.
rDr. Aufderheide is an active member of multiple dental organizations, including: the American Academy of Periodontology, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the American College of Oral Implantologists, the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, the Anne Arundel County Dental Society, and the Eastern Shore Dental Society. He served as Vice President and then President of the Anne Arundel County Dental Society for four years.
rDr. Aufderheide lives on Kent Island, with his wife of 18 years, Sarah, and three children. Outside of his profession, Dr. Aufderheide’s pursuits consist of coaching his children’s football, wrestling, lacrosse, and field hockey teams and attempting to restore a 1958 Edsel station wagon.
