Edward Zebovitz, DDS
Dr. Edward Zebovitz’s primary goal is to take really good care of people and make a meaningful difference in their lives; he loves his work. This is the reason that he chose a career in oral and maxillofacial surgery—his passion and aptitude for art, esthetics, engineering and biology. Every day, he newly commits himself to performing at the highest degree, seeking the very best outcomes. The time he spends with each individual is specially designed to be a pleasurable, patient-centered experience. Dr. Zebovitz specializes in care for deformities of the face, jaw, cleft lip and palate repairs. These are often complex problems and he enjoys the challenge. Because many with this issue are underserved, Dr. Zebovitz regularly donates his services to the poor and volunteers to go on surgical missions to developing countries. As a result of this passion, he founded his non-profit Surgeons for Smiles organization. He says, “It is rewarding to change lives for the better. It also helps hone my skills with every type of oral surgery, from the complex to the routine.”
WHO I AM
1. Most Favorite Patient Experience:
In June of this year, I sponsored a 10-year-old Liberian girl, who has been unable to open her mouth since the age of eight as the result of domestic violence. I performed surgery to release the bony fusion of her right and left jaw joints and used fat from her tummy area to create a new jaw joint. On her 6th day after surgery, she was in tears from the excitement of biting into a banana and chewing! Something she has not been able to do in over two years. The warmth and sense of well-being I received had me smiling all day! To date she has gained six pounds and is truly thriving.
2. My general advice to my patients:
We are a team, patient and I, and that the treatment I provide is a cooperative effort and a journey that we are on together!
