County Executive Leopold Announces Hiring of New Civilian Administrator of Animal Control
Robin Small ings experience in many aspects of operation
Annapolis, MD (August 5, 2011) - County Executive John R. Leopold today announced that Robin K. Small has been named the new civilian administrator of Anne Arundel County Animal Control. This action was in response to recommendations made by the Animal Welfare Council.
“Our main goals for Animal Control are to maintain a high adoption rate, improve customer service and educate the public about the importance of spaying and neutering,” County Executive Leopold said. “Robin Small ings a wealth of experience to the table, as she has worked her way up through several positions at the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Annapolis. She knows the community and has shown the leadership qualities necessary to succeed.”
Small has a bachelor's degree from Franklin and Marshall College in biological foundations of animal behavior. She joined the SPCA in 1999 as animal caretaker, and was promoted to office assistant, animal behavior specialist, shelter manager and director of operations. She also has worked for APet, a pet store, and the Greater Annapolis Veterinary Hospital.
Small starts on August 18.
“Ms. Small shares my vision to improve animal welfare and honor the bond between humans and their pets,” County Executive Leopold said.
“We are committed to improving the adoption rate at Animal Control. We have also increased our marketing of stray and abandoned animals on the Internet, on television, and at the animal shelter.”
