When people say, “it runs in the family,” this young man might have been on their mind. The son of a three-sport standout athlete (Paxton, Sr. at North Dorchester), Paxton followed suit at Colonel, where he's collected nearly a dozen varsity letters and has earned second-team All-Conference two years running in baseball, as well as All-Bayside honorable mention twice in football (running back/linebacker) and once in hoops (point guard). Hoops head coach Brad Plutschak says, “Paxton's a leader. He's a good kid; coachable, he listens, and he plays all-out at everything he does.”

Now that baseball season's about to begin, he'll play outfield and bat in the top of the order for the Colonels. Paxton, a left-handed hitter, is an integral part of head coach Dan Mangum's baseball squad. “I enjoy being with a team,” he says, “and I enjoy working to excel and achieve great accomplishments.” The only child of Paxton and Tomeco Batson of Federalsburg, Pax is planning to attend the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and major in accounting.
