What to know about the noise ordinance effective July 21, 2024 in Talbot County
Easton, MD - The Town of Easton provides a helpful breakdown of newly passed Ordinance No. 823, which regulates amplified music from commercial establishments during nighttime hours.
- Commercial establishments can no longer play amplified music of any kind outdoors between the hours of 10pm and 6am. This includes music played indoors if the windows and doors are open for an extended period of time.
- If your commercial establishment wishes to host a special event that requires amplification and extends beyond these hours, a permit may be applied for to the Town Council for an exemption. Goverment sponsored events and ceremonies are also exempt from this ordinance.
- Easton Police Department will be responsible for enforcement of this ordinance. A first infraction is subject to a fine of up to $500, and subsequent violations can be increased up to $1000 per occurrence. Citations may be served to owners, operators, tenants, musicians, and/or anyone else contributing to the violation.
