December 7, 2016, Annapolis -- After this past Sundays huge turnout for the Chocolate Binge Festival, West Street merchants had one more surprise for Annapolis for the Holidays. A newly expanded Holiday Light Canopy that now goes several blocks from Church Circle to the new Light House Bistro. At the conclusion to The festival some of the West Street merchants along with Mayor Pantelides, Alex Nunez representing BGE (this years title sponsor) and Erik Evans the Inner West Street Association / Annapolis Arts District Executive Director climbed unto the main stage at the festival to pull the lever to light up West Street's new Holiday Light Canopy.br
br"The businesses along West Street are very community oriented" says Erik Evans. "I see them everyday doing things to make the West Street community a better place for all." They wanted to expand a light canopy that had been started last year over the first block of West Street that was also used as both a Holiday Light Canopy and brought back this summer for their newest dinning experience Dinner Under the Stars. A committee was quickly put together of West Street businesses owners to help with fundraising and design that included Gavin Buckley, Jody Danek, Brian Cahalan and Katherine Burke. They quickly learned that almost every business owner they asked along West Street quickly responded to how they wanted to help make the Holiday Light Canopy happen. Most businesses under the Holiday Lights has contributed in some form. "We are stronger together" says Gavin Buckley owner of Metropolitan. Even the streets newest business BGE quickly jumped on board. They opened an office on the second block of West Street this summer. When they heard about the project the quickly stepped in making a contribution to become the title sponsor.br
