Landowner Workshop: Protecting Your Land From Invasive Plants

The Maryland Folk Festival is a free, large-scale celebration of the arts. After five years as the host of the National Folk Festival, this will be the inaugural legacy festival in Salisbury. The three-day event features hundreds of the nation’s finest musicians, dancers, craftspeople and other keepers of culture. The Maryland Folk Festival is dedicated to creating unique experiences of discovery and learning, cultivating cultural and ethnic diversity and pursuing opportunities to inspire and enlighten through music, dance, food, crafts and the traditional arts.
The 16th Annual St. Michaels Concours d'Elegance
September 22nd through 24th; Kent Island Yacht Club, Chester
The 16th Annual St. Michaels Concours d’Elegance on Chesapeake Bay will debut in Queen Anne’s County on the majestic waterfront lawn and marina of the casually elegant Kent Island Yacht Club on the Kent Narrows. The sleek and elegant Delahaye is the Grand Marque and Chesapeake Bay yachting will be the focus of this year’s event, set for Friday through Sunday, September 22 – 24 for entrants, and Sunday, September 24 for the public show.
18th Annual Emily Schindler Memorial Lecture

Chesapeake Life Center invites the community to the 18th annual Emily Schindler Memorial Lecture, “Contemporary Integrative Treatment of the Anxiety Disorders,” presented by Dr. Sally Winston. The lecture will be held from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22, at Bowie State University, Bowie, Maryland. In this workshop, Winston will discuss how to distinguish the different presentations of anxiety disorders so treatment can be tailored to the individual. Winston also will introduce a new conceptualization of generalized anxiety disorder as a close relative of obsessive-compulsive disorder, or OCD. Participants will be able to offer clients psychoeducational information to instill hope, insight and motivation as well as to reduce anxious bewilderment.

Just over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, this straight forward event will be a great way to end your season! Come experience the Matapeake Beach area with a 1/2 mile swim in the Chesapeake Bay, a 12 mile out-and-back bike ride along the straight and flat Route 8 (Romancoke Road) corridor, and then it’s back out for an out-and-back 3.1 mile run on the South Island Trail. Once you see the views from here, you’ll be sure to be back for training!!
