How To Look Urbane Instead of Uncouth
SUIT: One word — custom. Since you’re flouting tradition, you need a suit with a flawless fit.
BUTTONS: True air tie enthusiasts, like Ryan Gosling and Rami Malek, will keep things buttoned up tight. For a more casual look, drop one or two buttons. Anything more and you’ll look like an extra on Miami Vice.
COLLAR: Crisper than burnt toast. Busting out your iron is an absolute must. Add spray starch or collar stays for good measure.
UNDERSHIRT: Peekaboo is a game for kids, not the state of your undershirt. Wear a white v-neck or grandmas everywhere will coerce you into an endless bout of “tuck, tuck, spruce.”
ACCESSORIES: Love your lapel. Create a new focal point with a romantic bout, a luxe pocket square, or really fabulous shoes.
Guys Who Did It
Brian Baker
“We wanted the whole vibe of our wedding to be laid-back, since we are a very laid-back couple.”
Sam Shoge
“I wanted to be comfortable at my own wedding; having a shirt buttoned all the way with a tie traps a lot of heat, especially in the summer.”
Keith Griffith
“We wanted a casual wedding and I hate ties!”
