The Aloft BWI hotel and The Chesapeake Arts Center is holding a Meet the Artist Reception featuring George Maloney on Wednesday, September 25th from 5:30-7:30 pm at the Aloft BWI Hotel located at 1741 W. Nursery Rd, Linthicum, Maryland, 21090.
The Chesapeake Arts Center will be featuring a new artist each month at the Aloft BWI hotel. The Artist will be displaying art in the main Aloft BWI Lobby, followed by a free “Meet the Artist” at the end of each month. The Chesapeake Arts Center is kicking off its new partnership with Aloft hotel with local artist, George Maloney. The Chesapeake Arts Center couldn't be more excited to be able to ing all different types of Art to the Aloft hotel.
During the reception, friends and family will be able to enjoy drinks and food from 5:30-7:30p, while viewing George's artwork.
Mr. Maloney is a lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County Maryland. He's the President of Helix Construction Services, Inc. and Beacon Painting and Decorating Company, Inc. After a many year hiatus from painting, he began painting again in 2005.
Mr. Maloney's exhibit is called “Back Roads and Silent Vistas”. The work presented in this exhibit depict imagined locales incorporating memories of various places and scenes experienced by Mr. Maloney. His work is a representation of state of mind and emotion expressed as physical locations. Mr. Maloney frequently utilizes nocturnal settings in his work and what he describes as “margin times”, those fleeting moments between day and night when it is both and neither. His work is often informed by the words of the 19th century American Tonalist George Inness who stated, “The Aim (of a work of art) is not to instruct, not to edify, but to awaken an emotion.”- George Inness 1878.
