Annual Annmarie event features activities led by Maryland artists, Brynda Ambush Harrison & Slim Harrison
January 18, 2012, Solomons, Maryland – Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Arts Center in Solomons, Maryland, hosted MLK Days over the holiday weekend. For this year’s cele ation, Annmarie invited the Peaceweavers - Slim Harrison and Brynda Ambush Harrison - for a lively interactive musical performance and creative art program. 204 guests, of all ages and walks of life, enjoyed creating a joyful noise with musician Slim Harrison. Slim’s interactive performance included a variety of whacky and entertaining instruments that guests were invited to play. Guests also worked with artist, Brynda Ambush Harrison, to create a giant woven peace wheel. Brynda provided a colorful selection of fa ic from which to choose, as well as an assortment of doodads to weave into each aid. Brynda then helped each guest to add their aid to the large Peace Wheel. After three days of weaving, the Peace Wheel had grown to over four feet in diameter. Many of the guests signed their names on the hoop frame of the wheel. The peace wheel will remain on display in the Main Gallery at Annmarie for the next several months.
MLK Days is made possible thanks to the generous support of SMECO, The National Endowment for the Arts, the Maryland State Arts Council, and the Arts Council of Calvert County.
