Youth Art Month is an annual observance each March to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs. Thousands of American schools participate, often with the involvement of local art museums and civic organizations. In cele ation with the schools, the Kent Island Federation of Arts is hosting their 22nd annual Student Art Showcase. The exhibit will run from Fe uary 29 through March 31, 2012, with an Open House reception to honor the participants, to be held on Saturday, March 10, from 1 – 4 pm for the Students, Teachers, Principals, Administrators, and family members.
This opportunity gives many art students a chance to have their work on display in a gallery setting, while at the same time offering KIFA the chance to share with the public their wonderful talent. Last year approximately 60 students from 8 schools exhibited over 150 two dimensional, pottery, and assemblage works.
KIFA, a non-profit (501c3) volunteer organization, seeks to develop and allocate resources to provide gallery and studio space, instruction, art shows and events for our members and the greater community. KIFA is partially funded by grants from the United Way and CFC. KIFA, 405 Main St., Stevensville, MD 21666. For more information call 410.643.7424 or go to www.KIFA.us.
