First Sunday Arts Festival
Each first Sunday of the month, guests converge on Calvert and West Street from noon to 5 p.m. and owse over 100 vendors and take in live music, dance, theatre, and street performers.
The festival started unintentionally in 2001 when ARTFX gallery & 49 West Coffeehouse were hosting two simultaneous art receptions that spilled out onto the sidewalks. Two years later it became a street event when West Street was closed off in front of both businesses for construction and no cars were allowed through. The event grew so much that by the time construction had finished, the street needed to be closed on every First Sunday from May to October. Visit firstsundayarts.com for more details.
