Anyone who knows me well knows that I am not into reality TV. I don't watch American Idol or Dancing with the Stars, and my love affair with Survivor lasted exactly half an episode. I did watch the first season of the Bachelor way back in the day, and I'm still trying to repress that memory.
r
However, I do make an exception for one show: the Amazing Race. Although I don't make any special effort to watch it, I won't change the channel if it happens to come on. Perhaps it's the traveling aspect or perhaps it's the fact that the whole concept isn't based on couples making up or eaking up and just general fighting and chair throwing.
r
So, I found it rather intriguing I recently got notice of an event occurring on May 3rd at the United Artists Snowden Square Theater in Columbia. The host of the Amazing Race, Phil Keoghan, will be presenting his film, the Ride, about his bike ride across the country to benefit the National MS Society. While Keoghan already raised $500,000 through his ride, proceeds from ticket sales to this event will also go to the cause.
r
Sure beats sitting at home and watching Jersey Shore, in my opinion.
r
You can also compete in your own ride for MS, though it won't be nearly as long as Keoghan's, by signing up for the Chesapeake Challenge on June 11 and 12 in Chestertown.
