You know what they say, everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day! Here are a few ways you can celebrate this weekend:
Parades:
Though the Annapolis and Baltimore St. Patrick’s Day Parades already took place, the party is just getting started on the Eastern Shore. The Ocean City St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival begins at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 16th, and will travel down Coastal Highway from 60th to 44th Street. The Festival will kick off at 11 a.m. in the 45th Street parking lot, and will include food, drink, and live entertainment.
On Sunday, March 17th, Easton’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade will step off at 5:30 p.m. The parade will start on Brewers Lane, travel south on Harrison Street, west on Dover Street, and north on Washington Street before heading back to the staging area. After the parade, watch the annual Potato Race on Washington Street.
Races:
Run off some of that green beer at one of the several St. Patrick’s Day themed races taking place this weekend. On Saturday, March 16th, 9 a.m. Seashore Striders will host its 12th Annual St. Patrick’s Day 5K and Fun Run at the General James F. Fretterd Community Center in Denton. Or, jog down the Ocean City boardwalk during the St. Patrick’s Day Boardwalk 5K, beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, March 16th. On Sunday, March 17th, 8:30 a.m. TriCycle & Run will host its 4th Annual Shamrock Shuffle Free 5K in St. Michaels.
Performances:
Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a festive performance. On Saturday March 16th and Sunday, March 17th, 6 p.m., the Creative and Performing Arts of South County will host a St. Patrick’s Day themed dinner theater, featuring a performance of “Memories of the Green” by the National Ballet Company. On Sunday, March 17th, 3 p.m., head to D.C. for the Washington National Chorus St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at the Kennedy Center, or enjoy a performance by Celtic Woman at the Hippodrome in Baltimore.
Parties:
With so many fantastic St. Patrick’s Day parties happening this weekend, it’s almost impossible to list them all. Check out the website for your favorite bar or watering hole, or glance at your county calendar and see what celebrations are happening this weekend. And, when in doubt, you can always visit our calendar at to find even more great events.
Bonus Event: Ireland in Maryland
You can’t do St. Patrick’s Day without Guinness! Did you know there are only two Guinness Open Gate Breweries in the world? One is in Dublin (naturally), and the other is right here in Maryland. This weekend, the Guinness Open Gate Brewery and Barrel House in Halethorpe is hosting a full weekend of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. Tickets for the event are $15. Click here for more information.
