When I tell people about my job as Events Editor, a lot of them get jealous. After all, what could be better than going to benefits, plays, and even weekends away and getting paid to write about it? What they don't understand is that attending events, although fun, takes time. It also takes a functional vehicle, of which the status of mine is debatable at this point, and it takes caffeine, a lot of caffeine. The city never sleeps, after all, and neither does the well-traveled journalist.
Luckily, I've discovered an event that combines two very good things: a short drive from my condo and caffeine. This event would be the 2011 Irish Coffee Contest at O'Brien's Oyster Bar on Main Street in Annapolis. Beginning at 8 p.m. on Monday, you can see local bartenders show off their mixology prowess, competing for $250 cash and other prizes.
WRNR Radio will be on hand to keep the event lively, and all the proceeds go to Save the Coconuts, which supports east cancer research. Check out this week's E-vents Newsletter for more details on the organization.
Cheers and Java to all.
