For my husband, I usually get up early and make him something to take to work. This is a feat because the guy is out the door at 6:15 a.m. Let me just tell you, it doesn't matter how easy that cookie recipe is. I will mess something up at 5 a.m. He never complains, although once I got a text message that asked if I had put avocado in the ownies. I hadn't, but that didn't explain what I had done.

Every person has their own wants and needs on Valentine's Day. Some like champagne and flowers, others want to soak in a rose petal-lined bath. I have friends who compete in Ironman triathlons, and their idea of the perfect Valentine's Day is to go out and ride 100 miles together and then watch reality television with their supplement shakes. Another friend simply asked her husband to be in charge of putting all three kids to bed so that she could finish reading Cosmopolitan. Because there's nothing more romantic on Valentine's Day than reading about how to be romantic on Valentine's Day, right?
