So, I heard on the news that today is International Pancake Day, which I think is funny because Mardi Gras doesn't come around for yet another week. One of my favorite memories as a kid was going out to the fire station on Fat Tuesday to eat a pancake dinner. I thought it was so crazy to have dinner for eakfast! Now, every year, I make pancakes for dinner on Mardi Gras. No one I know really gets it. My roommates just think I'm a weirdo. Yet, they have never refused to eat said pancakes.

Since Mardi Gras is approaching, even though it's not today *sigh*, I thought I'd let you know about one of many soon to arrive New Orleans themed events. This one's for a good cause too. It's the MSquerade, put on by H&S Bakery and Schmidt Baking. Hmm ... sounds like an opportunity for some pretty good ead and desserts.

It's happening this Friday from 7:30-10:30 p.m. at Martin's Valley Mansion in Hunt Valley. You can have southern style food, bid on items in a silent auction, drink a lovely cocktail and listen to the Fabulous Greaseband, all to benefit The National Multiple Sclerosis Society Maryland Chapter. You can find out more at NMSS-MD.org. I sure hope they serve pancakes for dessert. They can be classy and call them crepes.
