For some reason, my invitation to the royal wedding last Friday got lost in the mail. However, I did get receive an invite to the Royal Gutterball Gala to benefit the Summit School. This turned out to be even better, and it wasn't at 5 o'clock in the morning.

The organizers of this event were very excited to plan it on such an audacious day. It gave them the opportunity to invite revelers to arrive in wedding dresses, tuxes, and tiaras. Many took advantage, although some stuck with the traditional bowling shirts emblazoned with the names of their “teams.”

Guests were greeted by palace guards at the entrance, who were informed not to talk to anyone. Once inside, they were also greeted by a giant smiling bowling pin and a large wedding cake adorned with bowling pin ide and groom. They were also greeted with the pleasant aroma of food donated by local restaurants, including Mike's Crab House and Lemongrass. Party Girls Maryland provided delicious crown-shaped sugar cookies and scones for attendees to enjoy the next morning.

The next stop, after getting my fill, was the silent auction room. With so many items, it was hard to decide what to bid on. They included spa certificates, baseball tickets, a tea basket, and even autographed sports jerseys. Since I am a Steelers fan, I wasn't too taken with the Ray Lewis item, but I did see several things that were to my liking. Unfortunately, I didn't win.

This well attended event finished off with a video and a bowling tourney. And no one had to endure a 6-hour flight afterward. Good show.
