Columbia Pro Cantare performs at the Jim Rouse Theatre.
Columbia Pro Cantare will feature works by two popular American composers at its next concert, Saturday, May 4, 2019, 8 pm. The music of George Gershwin & Jerome Kern triumphed on Broadway and in film in the 1920s and 1930s. CPC & the CPC Chamber Singers will perform some of their greatest hits including Jerome Kern’s “Long Ago and Far Away,” Gershwin’s “Summertime” & the “Who Can Ask for Anything More” medley. Instrumental pieces will include Gershwin’s “Lullaby” with the Howard County Concert Orchestra’s String Quartet,” & “Rhapsody in Blue” with pianist Eric Zuber. Tickets for the performance are $23, $20 (students and senior citizens) in advance; $2 more at the door. Children 5-15: $10.
