Historic Linthicum Walks will open its doors and grounds to visitors March 25, 26 and 27 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The weekend-long celebration will feature tours of the 1700’s historic home and its grounds, which include a family graveyard and framed meat house, both dating back to the 1800s.
In addition to tours, visitors can take part in a Maryland themed outdoor scavenger hunt, interact with people in historic dress and play children’s games that were popular in the 1700’s.
Admission to the event is $1 per person.
“We are thrilled to once again open our doors and let people see this local treasure first-hand,” said Katie Dentler, Executive Director of Historic Linthicum Walks.
“This house reflects the agricultural past of Anne Arundel County. For most of its history, the house and more than 200 acres of surrounding land belonged to the Linthicum family and tobacco was the cash crop. Most of the family’s food was also produced on the farm.”
In the 20th century, the property was acquired by Ben and Olive King, who restored the home and created the landscaping. The grounds are recognized as an Arboretum and boast four Anne Arundel County champion trees and one Maryland tri-champion tree.
Historic Linthicum Walks is located at 2295 Davidsonville Road in Gambrills, MD. Parking is available on site and overflow parking will be available at neighboring Crofton Middle School.
