While many families and organizations encompass what it means to support the Queen Anne’s County Fair; this year’s fair dedication is to an individual who truly takes this fair to heart. Mike Cohey has been a lifelong farming resident, and spent many years involved at the Queen Anne’s County fair with his commercial booth from Pioneer Seed.
In March of 1992, The Cohey family lost their son at the age of 9. His son loved his rabbits and always wanted to be a full fledged 4’her to show off his pride. Since his son’s passing Mr. Cohey has always given back to the fair in memory of his son. Since 1992, he has sponsored the 4-H Rabbit Bred and Owned class, and the Michael Cohey Jr. memorial award for the outstanding clover 4-H story.
Mr. Cohey two years ago purchased the new rabbit shed that stores all of the supplies and equipment that the show needs to operate. The Queen Anne’s County fair is honored to have Mr. Cohey’s dedication and support for all these years. This award is well deserved and well earned. Congratulations, Mr. Michael Cohey!
