Show Your Soft Side (SYSS) and Baltimore Animal Rescue and Care Shelter (BARCS) will hold the seventh annual Pawject Runway, presented by Pet Valu, on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at Royal Farms Arena. The fashion show features “Softies,” animal-loving professional athletes, entertainers and activists, who will strut their stuff on the runway “modeling” a range of adorable and adoptable dogs and cats in need of a home from BARCS. Proceeds from the event will benefit both BARCS in its mission to find forever homes for homeless and abandoned animals and Show Your Soft Side as it continues to work to change the mindset of a younger generation.
The evening begins at 6 p.m. as guests are welcome to rub shoulders with some famous faces, as well as rub some warm, furry bellies of the adoptable pets. Guests can also enjoy beer, wine, cocktails and treats while browsing curated, high-end silent auction items. The fashion show portion of the evening, outfitted by Pet Valu, will kick off at 8 p.m.
Joining returning co-chair John Rallo, Baltimore’s godfather of MMA, and Frank Remesch, general manager of Royal Farms Arena, will be Torrey Smith, wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers, and his wife, Chanel Smith, who are returning to serve as honorary co-chairs for this year’s event. Softies modeling include Baltimore Ravens players Chris Moore, Nick Boyle, Ronnie Stanley and Brent Ubran; Tampa Bay Buccaneers player, and returning Softie, Ryan Jensen; New England Patriots defensive end Lawrence Guy; Logan Ryan, cornerback for the Tennesse Titans; and Senio Kelemete of the Houston Texans, as well as Tyler Matakevich of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Also joining the athletes on stage will be TV personality and dog trainer Victoria Stilwell.
Last year, the event raised 40 percent more than the prior year – $134,000 in 2017 to $185,000 in 2018. Over the past seven years, Pawject Runway has raised over $500,000 and has helped countless animals find homes by spreading awareness throughout the Baltimore community and encouraging adoptions. On-site adoptions of animals featured in the runway show are highly encouraged.
General admission tickets to Pawject Runway are $35 and can be purchased online at https://www.pawjectrunway.org/. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
