As you can see from above, the shower was very pink! My aunt, who planned the event, asked me what I wanted for this shower and I said "traditional," "girly," and "pink!" My aunt Mary Ellen, who is the master of things like this, did a wonderful job with tons of help from my mom, aunt Ann, and Aunt Sandy (To top it all off, all three aunts flew in from Minnesota and Wisconsin for the weekend -- what an honor!) One of my idesmaids, Lauren, also flew in from Chicago for the weekend.

The great thing about Arizona is that you can do things outside without too much of a worry. However, there was a wind advisory the day of the shower, so we moved the tables from the open-air area to the right of the above photo to a more protected area closer to the house. The sun was shining, the pool looked beautiful, and the wind was only slightly distracting.
We started the day inside, though, gathering in the living room to play two games: A purse scavenger hunt and Guess That Spice. These were unique, fun games that I have never seen at a shower before.
Purse Scavenger Hunt
Divide into teams of three or four. Each person gets their purse and a list of items, such as lipstick, compact mirror, checkbook, family photos, and so on. Each item has a point value. The team goes through their purses, earning points for each item they have. The team with the most points at the end wins.
Guess that Spice
To prep the game, pour a small amount of 10 spices into 10 opaque jars. Cover the tops with foil and poke a small hole (enough to stick your nose in!) in the middle of the foil. Give each guest a list with 10 spaces to guess which spice is in each jar. Pass the jars around and have each guess smell the spice to guess what it is. The person who gets the most right wins! This game is much harder than it seems! For example, I thought a jar of lavender was nutmeg!
Strangely enough, I played a similar game at a idal shower last weekend for a friend. It was called Something White, and had 11 jars of white substances from the kitchen (i.e. flour, sugar, garlic powder, and so on). The goal was to guess what the substances were, but the difference was that you were allowed to see and taste each of them. However, it didn't really make it any easier! Especially because baking soda, baking powder, and cream of tarter all look and taste very similar!
After the games, we headed outside to eat. It was a delicious menu of two types of quiche, salad, muffins, fruit, and mimosas. My mom also ought these amazing chocolate cupcakes from a local chocolate shop. And then, it was present time!
Once again, I am so lucky! I got so many amazing gifts, including a Cuisenart Griddler, lots of new, white towels, a bunch of awesome kitchen utensils and gadgets, a idal photo album, Mikasa tumblers and martini glasses, and more!
All in all, it was an amazing day and fantastic weekend. And now...only 10 days left til the big day!
