The Dorchester General Hospital Foundation, with the assistance of the DGH Auxiliary, has raised $100,000 which made the purchase of new ultrasound equipment possible. The hospital now has a Philips IU 22 ultrasound machine to assess blood flow through arteries and veins throughout the body.
“For three years in a row we have asked our community to help us reach fundraising goals of $100,000 for equipment needed at DGH—and each year we met our goal, even in these challenging economic times,” says Ida Jane Baker, president of the DGH Foundation. The new equipment enhances the ability to diagnose and treat a variety of cardiovascular diseases.r

Meanwhile, the hospital's Robin Hood Shop is gearing up for the annual Christmas Showcase which begins on Tuesday, November 15th at 9 a.m., and features Christmas decorations, toys, gift items, clothing, and fashion accessories. The Showcase will continue through the holiday season with new merchandise available daily. Proceeds from the shop benefit programs and services at DGH.

And things just got a little easier for some DGH patients. Shore Health System's new outpatient laboratory services center in Cam idge is now open. Patients with prescriptions for lab work can come to this convenient location at 15 Sunburst Center on the eastbound side of US Rt. 50. Hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There is ample parking and easy access.
