“A twist on the still-present aid trend: a fishtail worked into a headband.”
—Advanced Hairstylist, Ashley Grossmiller-Ciampo, John James Salon in Crofton
“Clean neutral palettes on the eyes with reds, burgundies, and purple on the lips. Don't ever be scared of a little color. Bold and matte lips are here to stay!”
—Makeup Artist Hannah Thornhill, David Alexander Salon & Spa in Annapolis
“Think floral! Natural, sheer pink lips with red tones; blush in mauve hues; and earth-tone smokey eyes,”
—Spa Therapist Ivy Usilton, Flow Salonspa in Chestertown
“The color palette for hair will focus on reds, soft owns and vi ant jewel tones. Bobs are in, as well as mid-collarbone-length layers.”
—Stylist Laura Norris, Flow Salonspa in Chestertown
“Hair colors trending for winter are going to be taking inspiration from hues found in nature—think deep chestnut, smokey tobacco, rich terracotta, and dark and shiny ebony. Blondes are rootier and transitioning to creamier and more dimensional colors. Braids aren't going anywhere either. Wear them overnight for a tousled, wavy texture or incorporate one in a soft twisted updo.”
—Stylist Nicole White, David Alexander Salon & Spa in Annapolis
“If you're going to do anything, do your ows, mascara, and a lip. And don't ever forget to wash your face before bed—skin care makes the makeup application part much easier and good skin always gives you that extra boost of confidence!”
—Makeup Artist Hannah Thornhill, David Alexander Salon & Spa in Annapolis
“Soft om és and balayage highlights [soft and subtle free-handed highlights] in warmer-tone golds and auburns. Hair buns will be huge—top knots, aided buns, ‘90s double buns, and low buns—with bun crowns and cuffs to add to the fun!”
—Hair Stylist Jessie Shanks, Image Creators Salon & Spa in Severna Park
“Medium to long hair with long layers will begin to trend in the fall. When not in a bun, flowy hair with big curls is a must!”
—Advanced Hairstylist, Ashley Grossmiller-Ciampo, John James Salon in Crofton
“Natural, light blush with subtle contouring—also called ‘nontouring'—will surpass heavy foundation bases with over-the-top highlighting and sculpting. Following the less-is-more trend, we'll see more nude eyeshadows with an arty eyeliner. And for a little extra glitz, try some glitter or sequins around the eyes.”
—Makeup Artist Nicole Probeyann, Image Creators Salon & Spa in Severna Park
“The pendulum has swung away from edgier hair towards pretty, natural hair styles. Bangs won't be trending like they used to; it really depends on the face shape. We'll also see less layering of hair around the face. As for coloring, baby-lights—very finely highlighted hair—will be popular.”
