Over the next few months, we'll share some of her thoughts with you. Here's our first installment.
“Gray is the new tan, black and white – it's the new neutral,” says Summer Baltzer, interior designer and host of HGTV's Design on Dime and TLC's Unhinged. “While gray has been around for a couple of years, it's becoming more popular. It's one of those colors that was used as an accent, but soon became so popular that people started using it on their walls, molding, and cabinets.”
Baltzer's not the only one spouting about gray. Just check out any home decorating blog on the web and you'll see plenty of this cool, yet welcoming color. Wondering what shade is right for you? Baltzer recommends using a richer own-gray or charcoal gray for a timeless classic look. “Gray is so versatile,” she says. “It can be taken in a traditional or a contemporary direction depending upon your choice of furnishings and accessories. You can do some stunning stuff with gray.”
Why not pair it with one of 2011's hot colors such as Honeysuckle Pink for a dramatic effect? For more information on 2011 colors, check out the March issue of What's Up Annapolis and What's Up Eastern Shore.
