Thirty-five (35) Anne Arundel County families received the gift of food for their Thanksgiving holiday through the Anne Arundel County Community Action Agency (CAA). Recipients were selected from agency customers who are receiving services through CAA’s Head Start, Early Head Start, Energy Assistance, Empowerment, and Youth Services programs.
“We were very fortunate to get private and corporate donors to help us with the program,” stated Julie Snyder, who coordinated the program for Community Action. “Giant, located at Festival at Riva, really stepped up and helped us with the turkeys. Not only did they give us a very generous donation, but they also stored the turkeys and delivered them to Community Action Agency on distribution day. Fresh Market and Graul’s Annapolis also contributed. We thank them all for the success of this effort. ”
“With such growing need, we wish we could do more,” said Kinaya Sokoya, CEO of Community Action. “We will continue our efforts to help families in need enjoy the holiday season. For Christmas, we are asking corporations and individuals to adopt needy families and fill their wish lists. This will further our efforts to make Anne Arundel County a caring community. For more information, please contact Julie Snyder at 410-626-1900, extension 1026.”
