Singing holiday music is one of the highlights of the season for Annapolis Chorale singers and Mr. Green, who invite everyone to share some holiday cheer at the annual Cele ation of Christmas concerts on Thursday, December 8 (7:30 p.m.) and Friday, December 9 (8 p.m.) at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts. This annual Annapolis tradition mixes the best music and sentiments of the season with a big dose of fun. Joining Live Arts Maryland this year is guitarist Piotr Pakhomkin, who dazzled audiences with his virtuosity on the Rodrigo “Concierto de Aranjuez” at the recent November concerts. Lending their collective voices to the “carols being sung by a choir” are The Annapolis Chorale and Annapolis Youth Chorus accompanied by the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Mr. Green.
“This is one of my favorite concerts of the year. We know everyone has a favorite holiday carol or song and we include as many as we can,” says Mr. Green. About Mr. Pakhomkin, he says, “After our November concerts, many patrons asked me if Piotr would be back with us for Christmas. I’m very happy to say that he is – literally by popular demand.” Audiences will hear such favorites as “White Christmas,” “Sleigh Ride” and “Sing We Now of Christmas,” just to name a few. Everyone gets into the holiday act with a special carol sing-along finale conducted by Mr. Green.
Tickets for Cele ation of Christmas are $42/adults (plus a $3 per-ticket service charge) and are on sale now at the Maryland Hall Box Office at 410-280-5640 or online at www.marylandhall.org. Thursday night’s performance offers a special $12/student price. Discounted group rates are available. For more information, visit www.liveartsmaryland.org.
