Added Coverage Will Allow Annapolis Residents and Visitors to Access More of the Community With Affordable, Flexible Public Transit
Annapolis, MD (March 1, 2023) – Starting March 1, the City of Annapolis will expand its app-based, on-demand public transit service, Annapolis GO. The expanded area extends to Hilltop Lane and most of the Forest Drive corridor. Annapolis Go has been in operation since May of 2022 when the City partnered with VIA to operate Annapolis GO as part of the City’s temporary mobility plan to help relieve traffic congestion during the rebuild of the downtown Hillman Garage.
Annapolis GO is a flexible public transit service that has served more than 11,000 rides since the launch 10 months ago. As a result of its success, Annapolis GO has scaled the service coverage to include parts of the city east of Hilltop Lane – allowing riders to access several new points of interest, including multiple grocery stores, recreation centers, and residential pockets.

Expanded Service Zone Map:
Annapolis GO is powered by Via, the global leader in TransitTech. Via uses intelligent algorithms to match multiple riders headed in the same direction into one vehicle. The result is a highly flexible mobility option that expands the reach of the City’s other transit options, including the downtown magenta shuttle, the new 10-minute 100 percent electric trolley, the Bird scooter and e-bikes program, and fixed-route bus lines.
“Annapolis GO has been a great partner in helping the City during the rebuild of Hillman garage,” said Annapolis Mayor Gavin Buckley. “It’s efficient and it's cheap. I know riders appreciate the convenience.”
Annapolis GO ridership has steadily increased since launch, especially when the service increased coverage during later weekend hours. Riders often use the service to frequent local businesses, engage in recreational activities, and visit downtown, City Dock, and the United States Naval Academy.
How to ride with Annapolis GO:
- Download the Annapolis GO app from the App Store or Google Play Store and follow the signup steps to create an account.
- Book a ride. Enter pickup and drop-off addresses. Choose the ride that works by tapping “book this ride.” Be sure to tap the wheelchair icon if needed.
