Program Registration started this week – we’re already talking about fall… the new Program Guide is out!
Also, the printed version of the Fall Program Guide will be included in this Sunday’s edition of the Sunday Capital newspaper (only Sunday subscribers will receive it, it will not be at newsstands.) You may also view it as a PDF online www.annapolis.gov/programguide.

Events
r Revolution Kids Community Bike Shop – this Saturday and next Saturday at PMRC
Come tinker in our fully functional kids bike shop! Through this program, experienced mechanics help diagnose and repair bikes for youth. Cost is $15 plus the cost of any supplies that you use from the shop (for example brake cables, gear cables, tubes.) Kids will work with our lead bike mechanic Corporal Craig Medley of the Annapolis Police Department Bike Patrol. Dog Days of Summer – Save the Date for this September event!
Your dogs can have their day to drool in the pool at the end of the summer. We’re bringing back this popular dog-paddle event! Proceeds benefit the ARPD Scholarship Fund. Wednesday, September 7th, 4 – 7 p.m., Truxtun Park Pool. $10 per dog to be paid at the pool entrance.

- No dogs in heat r
- Owners need to provide current proof of vaccination certification before dog is allowed in pool r
- Owners are responsible for any mess created by their dog r
- One dog per human for adequate supervision r

rUnderwater Robot Demonstration – held today, pictures soon!
Campers, ages 6-12, participated in an underwater robot demonstration during the Faye Daniel Summer Science Camp (FDSSC). FDSSC is designed to enhance academic tasks, following directions and the use of critical thinking. The youth are encouraged to learn about STEM – science, technology, engineering, and math – fields. The FDSSC camp is sponsored by the Naval Academy Women's Club, LET'S GO Boys & Girls, and U.S.N.A. The instructors teach the campers hands-on, science and engineering experiments which include building a Sea Perch Underwater Robot! The prototype for this robot was created by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Please continue to check our Web site for pictures from this event!

rWaterworks Parks Volunteer Park Ranger Interest Meeting – next Wednesday, August 10th
To prepare for the re-opening of Waterworks Park in September, ARPD will host a Volunteer Ranger Interest Meeting on Wednesday, August 10th at 7 p.m. at PMRC. This meeting will provide interested residents with information about the volunteer ranger position responsibilities for the Waterworks Park. A formal orientation and training for the volunteers will be conducted later in August. If you are interested in volunteering as a park ranger, please call 410.263.7958 e-mail recpark@annapolis.gov, or plan to attend this meeting.
Memorial Tree and Bench Program – honor or memorialize your loved ones
This is a program is a way to honor and remember relatives and friends while giving back to our City’s park community. The Memorial Tree and Bench Program encourages the purchase of a young tree or park bench to be placed in a park or open space area within the City of Annapolis to honor a special occasion or remember a loved one. In return, this effort adds beauty to the landscape for countless generations to enjoy.
Friends of Parks – ongoing initiative
As an ongoing initiative, ARPD seeks volunteers who are interested in the preservation, restoration, and enhancement of the parks throughout the City. With a team of volunteers you can make a difference in our community through gardening, tree planting, trails and wildlife habitat restoration, environmental education and park patrol.
