ANNAPOLIS, MD – On Friday and Saturday, Fe uary 17 and 18, at 8:00pm the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, under the musical direction of Maestro José-Luis Novo, performs our third classic concert of our 50th Anniversary season at Maryland Hall for the Creative Arts.
Join the ASO as we feature three gems in the orchestral repertoire. Claude Debussy’s impressionistic Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun opens the concert followed by Alberto Ginastera’s colorful Variaciones concertantes. Johannes Brahms’ dramatic Symphony No. 4 closes this showcase concert for the orchestra.
Adult tickets start at $25 and student tickets are $10. Tickets for these concerts can be purchased through the ASO website at www.annapolissymphony.org, by calling 410-263-0907, or by stopping by the ASO Box Office in room 204 at Maryland Hall in Annapolis, Monday through Friday, 9:30am – 5:30pm.
All ticket holders are invited to attend a free and informative pre-concert lecture in the auditorium at 6:45pm before the concert. Led by British pianist and musicologist Dr. Rachel Franklin, these entertaining talks enhance the concert experience by providing historical and insightful perspectives on the music to be played. Lectures are sponsored by Bank of America.
The Annapolis Symphony Orchestra’s 2011-2012 season is particularly meaningful as the ASO cele ates its 50th anniversary of providing excellent orchestral performances for the Annapolis region. The ASO continues to highlight the past, present and future of the organization throughout the season with a full series of concerts led by Music Director José-Luis Novo.
Underwriting support for the 50th Anniversary Season comes from Elizabeth Richebourg Rea who has made one of the largest single gifts in the history of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra to honor her father, Philip Richebourg, who passed away in April at the age of 91. The gift will underwrite the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra’s 50th Anniversary Season in memory of Mr. Richebourg, the organization’s first Board president and co-founder.
