Annapolis, MD - Arundel Rivers will break ground this spring on a habitat enhancement and stream restoration project at Lake Marion in partnership with Provinces Civic Association, Severn River Association, and Anne Arundel County. This project will dredge several feet of accumulated sediment from Lake Marion, add wetland habitat, and improve the lake's overall capacity to treat stormwater. The lake's outfall channel, currently lined with concrete, will be removed and transformed into a series of pools providing new habitat in a channel that has been void of habitat for decades.
While this project is outside of the South, West, and Rhode watersheds, Arundel Rivers was asked to manage project coordination due to the complexity of the project and the multiple funding sources required to make this project possible. Arundel Rivers received a grant from the Maryland Department of Natural Resources with additional funding secured by partners from Anne Arundel County, State of Maryland, and the Arundel Community Development Services.
