rAlan Bernstein has been practicing for over 35 years. He received his B.A. from C.W. Post College (Long Island University) and J.D. degree from American University. While still practicing law, he was Vice President and Chief Lending Officer of a savings and loan, and founded and was the CEO of a successful boutique securities firm that dealt not only in real estate securities, but also managed public offerings, including that of a local bank.
rJerry Feldman has always been passionate about business and helping people. Both his parents and grandparents ran local businesses, and he spent his summers as a young man working at those family-run establishments. He grew up in Murray Hill and after earning his B.A. from the University of Maryland and his J.D. from the University of Baltimore School of Law, Feldman returned to Annapolis to start his career. For him, Annapolis is home; he wouldn’t think of practicing anywhere else.
rJohn F. Woods, a graduate of Harvard University and Harvard Law School, joined the firm in 2007. He has practiced for more than 30 years as a general corporate, securities, and commercial law attorney. He has represented banks, bank holding companies, institutional lenders, corporate borrowers, and technology companies. He spent twelve years in the D.C. office of Patton, Boggs & Blow (now Patton Boggs LLP) as a partner. He was outside general counsel to several companies, and represented numerous early-stage technology companies in government contracting, technology licensing, and debt and equity financing. He also has dealt extensively with the SEC. He has been general counsel to two corporations and a partner in a national antitrust and energy regulatory practice. Woods is prepared to handle complex banking, securities, and financial transactions, as well as civil litigation.
rSusan A. Winchurch joined the firm in 2010 after having served as Corporate Counsel at Ritz Camera & Image, LLC and Real Estate Counsel at Giant of Maryland. A graduate of Loyola College and the University of Maryland School of Law, Winchurch also has represented developers, tenants, and landlords in commercial real estate transactions. She has worked on complex mixed-use commercial developments consisting of retail, hotel, office and residential components, and has served as lead counsel in shopping center anchor tenant lease transactions, development agreements, joint ventures, loans, acquisitions, due diligence, and dispositions. She also assists clients in civil litigation, business transactions, entity formation, and deal structuring.
rSeema Desai recently rejoined Bernstein & Feldman after a brief hiatus. Seema’s experience is primarily in civil litigation related to real estate matters, consumer protection, administrative and business matters. Seema is also fluent in Spanish and Gujarati and has represented multi-cultural clients in various matters, including immigration. University, where she studied Spanish and Public Health, and Catholic University Columbus School of Law.
