It's hard to believe, but this year marks the seventh anniversary of Best of Annapolis. This is the contest when we ask you, our readers, to choose who you think is the best! You've taken the time to vote for a list that includes long-cherished restaurants as well as unique boutiques carving their niche in the market. Those who received the most votes earned Best of honors as an outstanding local business and service.
In 2004, our first year conducting this reader survey, we received about 500 ballots; 2010 saw over 7,500 ballots turned in. Yes, Best of Annapolis has grown on pace with the city itself. Many of you patiently completed the entire form, while others had a specific category and hopeful winner in mind. In several cases, the voting was “too close to call,” resulting in accolades for two businesses; you simply loved them equally (ice cream, for example).
It all adds up to our most exciting group of Best of Annapolis winners to date. Congratulations to everyone who participated! After all, Annapolitans and Anne Arundel County residents alike are the Best Citizens (in our opinion).
