The Maryland Senior Olympics will present the 2012 Winter Games on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2012, at the Gardens Ice House in Laurel. Two sports will be featured this year – ice hockey and curling. The Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities invites seniors in the county to participate in the event.
The Winter Games are open to all athletes age 50 and above. Registration fees are $30 per player for hockey and $10 per player for curling. The hockey portion is expected to have each team playing two games. The curling section will include a “learn to curl in an hour” introduction, followed by two four-ended games. The hours will be between 1 and 5 p.m. The curling rink will supply all equipment. After the event there is a potluck dinner with beverages.
