Heartland Quilters of the Eastern Shore's Shop Hop
Thursday, August 4th 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Denton Firehouse, 400 S. 5th Ave, Denton
The Shop Hop will feature more than 30 quilting-related vendors, including quilt and yarn shops from the Delmarva Peninsula, local beaders, wool spinners, long arm quilters, wood workers, machine em oiderers and much more. In addition to the Shop Hop, the Heartland Quilters are also sponsoring the Downtown Denton Quilt Crawl from 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm where you can enjoy ongoing quilt exhibits at the Foundry, located at 401 Market Street, the Museum of Rural Life, located at 16 N. 2nd Street, the Caroline Central Li ary, located at 100 Market Street and the Choptank River Heritage Center, located at 10219 River Landing Road in Denton. Residents and visitors will find a collection of unique quilts on display at each of the location through August. There will also be a temporary quilt exhibit on the Caroline County Courthouse Green. The Caroline-Dorchester County Fair offers fun for the whole family, including the Dress a Goat Contest, the Greased Pig Contest, amusement rides, pet shows, live entertainment, food, and much more! The Fair serves as a showcase for agricultural life, a means to educate children about the importance of the profession of farming, including the handling of animals from birth to market, the growth, preparation and preservation of food and the creativity of home arts skills. $2 for adults/ Free for children under 13.

Federalsburg Historical Society's Flea Market at the Wheat Threshing, Steam & Gas Engine Show

The Federalsburg Historical Society will have a large flea market at the Eastern Shore Threshermen's Wheat Threshing, Steam & Gas Engine Show. Come find a treasure! The market will also feature books, Christmas ornaments, and raffle tickets for two unique prizes: a one-of-a-kind Rowe country crock featuring a picture of the Caroline County Courthouse donated by James Truitt and an antique trunk. Raffle tickets will be sold at this event. The crock will be raffled off at Caroline Summerfest and the trunk will be raffled off at Heritage Day in October at the Federalsburg Heritage Area Museum. Tickets for the crock are also for sale at Cantner's Drug Store in Federalsburg where the crock is on display or through calling Carol Shaw at (410) 253-5324. Tickets cost $1.00 each or 6 for $5.00. Step back in time with a Friday Night Cruise-In and Outdoor Movie. Spend a summer evening strolling the streets of Downtown Denton and enjoying the classic cars parked along Market Street. There will also be DJ spinning oldies tunes. At dusk, there will be an outdoor movie, so ing your lawn chairs and blankets!
