– Live surround sound with music from the Renaissance to the 20th century –
r
The Annapolis Chorale offers a unique, live surround-sound cele ation of choral music from the 16th century to the present during its two “Motets, Madrigals & More” concerts under the direction of J. Ernest Green on Friday, April 8 (7:30 p.m.) and Saturday, April 9 (8 p.m.), at historic St. Anne's Parish in Annapolis. Members of the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra in the form of two ass quintets will accompany the chorus and organist Larry Molinaro will also perform in the perfect acoustics of historic St. Anne's Church.
r
With its size and skill, the Annapolis Chorale is uniquely able to achieve this dramatic musical effect. Mr. Green will use both to maximum advantage by placing segments of the chorus all around the nave of St. Anne's during the concert. The surround-sound effect will add extra drama and power to the works being performed, from the opening movement of the “Vespers” by Claudio Monteverdi to the lush “Ave Maria” by Franz Biebl. The Chorale will also perform works by Anton Bruckner, Giovanni Ga ieli modern composer John Tavener. During both concerts, Mr. Green will provide a tour of the music being performed. Live Arts Maryland invites all students to attend these concerts free through its Student Rush ticket program.
