Celebrating Maryland’s Healthcare Heroes: Governor Hogan Launches Poster Competition, Asks Maryland Students For Submissions
ANNAPOLIS, MD—Governor Larry Hogan called on Maryland students in pre-K through grade 12 to submit poster designs that depict “Celebrating Maryland’s Healthcare Heroes”—the theme of a new Healthcare Heroes Poster Competition, organized in partnership with the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). The governor first announced the competition last week as part of Healthcare Heroes Appreciation Week.
“We owe a profound debt of gratitude to our front line medical workers,” said Governor Hogan. “Our state continues to lead the nation in health and economic recovery, and it is due in large part to their incredible dedication. This poster competition is just one way we can honor our healthcare heroes and thank them for their immense sacrifices throughout the past two years of the pandemic.”
The competition is open now through March 8 at 5 p.m. Students who are interested in participating are encouraged to talk to their art teacher. Official competition rules are available here. Students can submit their poster designs here.
During the preliminary judging round from March 8-14, two poster designs from each of Maryland’s 24 local education agencies will be selected to compete in the statewide competition. At the state competition, one winning poster will be selected by Deputy Secretary Dr. Jinlene Chan of the Maryland Department of Health and First Lady Yumi Hogan from each of the following categories: elementary school, middle school, and high school.
Winning posters will be displayed at local hospitals, and the winning students will be invited to the State House to receive official governor’s citations.
