Chesapeake Arts Center (CAC) Announces its FY'12 Board of Directors

Brooklyn Park, MD (September 2011) — Chesapeake Arts Center (CAC), northern Anne Arundel County’s nonprofit center for the arts, announces the election of its FY’12 Board of Directors. Executive officers are: Joan Cadden, former Maryland State Delegate; Ned Carey, BWI Airport Administrator; Jacqueline Breeden, Operations Manager at M&T Bank; and Belinda Fraley-Huesman, Owner, The Fraley Group Corporation. New members elected to the Board of Directors are Maisha Gillins, Andrea Horton, Sherry Lanzino, George Maloney, Yvonne Riddle, Tony Topita, and Mary Toth. They will join existing members Pat Barland (Anne Arundel Planning and Zoning), Dorothea Colvin, Brian V. Furr (IWIF), Daryl D. Jones (County Councilman), Lauren M. Parker (Registrar of Wills) and Lou Zagarino (Whitehall Management Group).
“Nonprofit organizations are governed by active community members who are willing to serve, without renumeration, as Directors on the Board of Directors” said Davina Grace Hill, Executive Director for the Chesapeake Arts Center. “We are pleased to welcome the new members who ing a variety of community strengths to our Board of Directors. Their work will be to further expand the reach the arts in Anne Arundel County."
Maisha Gillins has been Principal of Brooklyn Park Middle School since 2008. Brooklyn Park Middle School becomes a Performing and Visual Arts Magnet School this fall and tie-ins with Chesapeake Arts Center are anticipated. Since 1996, Andrea Horton has served as a Media Specialist and Li arian with Anne Arundel County Schools. Her work in expanding literacy will now expand to encompass cultural literacy. A professional singer for 12 years, Sherry Lanzino is also a realtor with Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, Ms. Lanzino resides in Severna Park.
An active artist, George Maloney has a strong interest in making the arts more accessible in our community. President of Helix Construction Services since 1994, Mr. Maloney is Chairman of the Maryland Workforce Corporation, appointed by Governor O'Malley in 2010, a member of the Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce, and Greater Severna Park Chamber of Commerce. Yvonne Riddle, an ardent arts supporter, ings her interest in cultivating community relationships to the Chesapeake Arts Center. She is a Financial Representative with the Anne Arundel County, Office of Finance in Annapolis, Maryland.
A veteran community supporter, Tony Topita comes to CAC with 20 years experience in the financial services industry. As Vice President, Commercial Branch Sales Manager of Sandy Spring Bank, Mr. Topita excels in developing business relationships with his landmark leadership and motivational skills. With 20 years experience in the non-profit arts sector, Mary Toth ings arts connections to the Board at CAC. Former President of Maryland's statewide arts advocacy organization, she is the principal at Mary Toth Consulting in Baltimore.
Individuals serving on the CAC Board of Directors serve three year terms, renewable once. There are also three appointed positions and for FY'12 Andrea Horton is the AA County Council appointee, Tony Topita is the AA County Executive's appointee and Ned Carey is the AA Board of Education appointee.

The Chesapeake Arts Center (CAC) is a 58,000 square foot, multi-discipline arts facility located in Northern Anne Arundel County, just south of Baltimore, Maryland. The modern facility houses the 816-seat Hammonds Lane Theatre, the 120-seat Studio 194 Theatre, gallery space, ceramics lab, dance studios, music rooms, woodshop and classrooms.
CAC is funded by grants from the Maryland State Arts Council, Anne Arundel County, Arts Council of Anne Arundel County, local businesses and members who want to see the arts thrive in northern Anne Arundel County.
