Bio: Grammy-nominated musician and producer David Mayfield is having quite a year, following the release of his debut album, The David Mayfield Parade this past January on 9th Grade Records, the label Mayfield co-founded with his manager and long-time collaborator Josh Joplin. DMP has toured nationally on the heels of the new album and also on exclusive video premieres in both Paste and American Songwriter. Along with a confirmed slot at Bonnaroo in Manchester, TN in June, DMP was just selected as one of Southwest Spirit Magazine's 40 Artists To Watch. The issue was a special edition to coincide with the 40-year anniversary of Southwest Airlines, and its magazine is seen by 3.4 million readers each month. In addition to the nod in the magazine, Apple has partnered with Southwest to offer free downloads of each of the 40 artists on their new web based inAirtainment initiative.

Mayfield, known to be a force of nature on stage with boundless energy and enthusiasm for performing, also has a sincerity that is reflected in every performance. There is no posturing, no facade, nothing but great songs and the instruments to play them. His ability to connect with audiences from performances at MerleFest, NPR's Mountain Stage, The Grand Ole Opry, NX35, The Great Northwest Tour, and Vanderbilt's Rites of Spring has earned him the reputation of being the kind of extraordinary artist who goes beyond trend and simply delivers genuinely essential music—and much of that stems from Mayfield's roots. While making the album, Mayfield drew inspiration from his musical heroes Buddy Holly, Harry Nilsson, and Randy Newman and the albums he grew up listening to, Simon and Garfunkel's "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and Melanie's "Gather Me.” The songs on the album effortlessly venture from classic AM radio rock with lush string arrangements to unadorned alt-country ballads whose lovelorn subjects evoke the outlaw songs of the early 70's.
