Local youth to collaborate with professional artists to honor the lives and legacies of former Supreme Court Justices Thurgood Marshall and Ruth Bader Ginsburg
WHAT:
Future History Now (FHN), an Annapolis-based nonprofit organization, will create a 24 foot by 30 foot public art mural this weekend across from the Anne Arundel Circuit Courthouse in Annapolis. Youth artists will collaborate with FHN’s professional teaching artists to create the double portrait of Thurgood Marshall and Ruth Bader Ginsburg with the phrase “Equal Justice Under Law” written across the top.
The Equal Justice Mural Project is part of Future History Now’s KMH (KIDS MAKING HISTORY) Mural Tour, a series of public art murals in Annapolis arranged on a walking tour. Each KMH mural is multi-layered with historical content and unique conceptual designs created by FHN Executive Director Jeff Huntington. Once completed, KMH visitors will be able to scan a QR code that will link to a “Virtual Docent” (museum guide) app featuring audio narration of the historical content by the youth artists who painted the mural.
