
Annapolis, MD - The City of Annapolis reminds residents of relevant road closures on the morning of Saturday, March 11, 2023 for the Annapolis Running Festival. The Festival will include a 5K race, a 10K race and a half marathon. All street closures should be complete by 10:30 a.m.
Half Marathon: 7 a.m. start. Course starts/finishes at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The 13.1-mile course will have runners going into the downtown Historic District along Rowe Blvd. to Northwest St. Runners will head down Main Street, making a left onto Randall Street. Runners will leave the Historic District on King George to MD 450 toward the Naval Academy Bridge (MD 450) and continue into Anne Arundel County onto the B&A Trail. In Arnold, runners will turn around on the same trail, come back into the City along Taylor Ave., and end at the Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Runners will have 3.5 hours to complete the course.
10K Race: 7 a.m. start. Course starts/finishes at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The 6.2-mile course will have runners going into the downtown Historic District along Rowe Blvd. to Northwest St. Runners will head down Main Street, making a left onto Randall Street. Runners will leave the Historic District on King George to the Naval Academy Bridge (MD 450) where they will turn around, head back MD 450 to Taylor Ave., ending at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Runners will have two hours to complete the course.
5K Race: 7:10 a.m. start. Course starts/finishes at Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The 3.1-mile course will have runners going into the downtown Historic District along Rowe Blvd. to Northwest St. The course will take runners down Main Street. Runners will turn around at the top of City Dock, retracing the route to Rowe Blvd. At Herbert Sachs Blvd., runners will turn left to return to Navy Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Runners will have 75 minutes to complete the course.
All route and street closures have been worked out, and agreed to, by the Annapolis Police Department, Anne Arundel County Police, the Maryland State Highway Administration, and the Maryland State Police. Extensive consideration was given to minimizing the inconvenience to residents and businesses.
Parking on area roads will not be affected along the route. Parking along Main St. and King George St. will not be impacted. Sidewalk closures are not planned.
There will be a traffic detour to downtown via Rowe Boulevard, around the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Police will be stationed at the Rowe intersections (Farragut Road/Rowe Boulevard and Herbert Sachs/Rowe Boulevard) to direct vehicles. Throughout the time of this event, use extra caution on downtown roadways and follow police direction.

- Taylor Ave. between Cedar Park Rd. and Annapolis St.
- Southbound Taylor Ave. between Annapolis St. and Herbert Sachs
- Cedar Park Rd. between Taylor Ave. & Farragut Rd.
- Farragut Rd.
- Rowe Blvd. inbound between Farragut Road and Northwest St. (*between 8 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., APD will detour vehicles around the stadium via Farragut Road, Cedar Park Road, Taylor Ave. and Herbert Sachs)
Historic Area (7 – 8:30 a.m.)
- Northwest Street between Rowe Blvd and Church Circle
- Church Circle between Main St. and Northwest St.
- Main Street
- Randall St., Dock St., and Susan Campbell Park
- King George St. (cars parked overnight on the street will be able to exit north toward MD 450)
Naval Academy Bridge and Areas North (6:45 – 10:30 a.m.)
- MD 450/Southbound between Boulters Way and Taylor Ave.
- Boulters Way (West/Northbound only)
- B&A Trail between Boulters Way and Joyce Lane
