"Safety along our roadways begins with preventative maintanance of our vehicles, which is the cause for Chesapeake Auto Repair to host monthly car clinics and CarFit events to provide "hands on" education and providing informational presentations for both younger and older drivers" says Terry Ober, Marketing Coordinator for Chesapeake Auto Repair. "Every third Saturday of each month will be our open house and car clinics free to the public." Each event will be held from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm inside the beautiful show room and automotive repair bay. The event is held rain or shine!
Presentations include vehicles placed on lifts having Tim Lawson and Jack Cooper show and explain the many features of your vehicle that should be examined and expected for preventative maintenance and safety. Informational presentations will be provided by Terry Ober, Vickie Quimby and special guests experts in the field of safety.
Older drivers are often the safest drivers in that they are more likely to wear their seatbelts, and less likely to speed or drink and drive. However, older drivers are more likely to be killed or seriously injured when a crash does occur due to the greater fragility of their aging bodies. The CarFit program provides an examination of the driver, behind the wheel and includes educational information as Mr. Ober explains the safety features commonly used by motorists and allows each driver to be more aware and familiar with their vehicles safety equipment. Driver safety programs improve adult driver safety by addressing cognitive abilities and skills, however, older drivers can also improve their safety by ensuring their cars are properly adjusted for them. A proper fit in one's car can greatly increase not only the driver's safety but also the safety of others.
