Governor Martin O'Malley will help honor 280 at-risk youth graduating from the Conservation Jobs Corps (CJC) at a ceremony on Friday, August 5.
This year, Maryland Conservation Corps members, Maryland Park Service staff and Conservation Jobs Corps crew chiefs led projects and provided mentoring for the five-member CJC crews at Gunpowder Falls State Park, Patapsco Valley State Park, Susquehanna State Park, Assateague State Park, Merkle Wildlife Sanctuary and the Gwynns Falls Trail Park in Baltimore City. Their projects included resource conservation, trail maintenance, forest buffer planting, creating of rain gardens, river, stream and beach clean-ups, identifying species of trees and much more. In addition, CJC crew members learned about the environment though participation in outdoor activities such as hiking, canoeing, camping and art work.
Youth participants will be available for interview beginning at 10:45 a.m.

DIRECTIONS FROM NORTH BALTIMORE:
Take Baltimore Beltway 695-south towards Essex/Key Bridge. Follow 695 to Exit 42 (151 Sparrows Point/North Point Boulevard). Exit and bear right onto 151 South to first light. Make left onto North Point Road (Route 20). Follow through Edgemere for 1.9 miles to North Point State Park on left.
DIRECTIONS FROM SOUTH BALTIMORE:
Take Baltimore Beltway 695 North towards Glen Burnie/Key Bridge. Follow 695 over Key Bridge to Exit 43 (Bethlehem Boulevard/Sparrows Point). Get off at Exit 43 and make left at first blinking light (Bethlehem Boulevard). Follow Bethlehem Boulevard/158 East for one mile to North Point Boulevard. Cross over North Point Boulevard onto North Point Road (Route 20). Follow Route 20 through Edgemere for 1.9 miles to park on left.
