Hospice Cup, Inc. is calling for all artists, from painters to photographers, to submit work to serve as the official image of Hospice Cup XXXI taking place in Annapolis, MD on September 22, 2012.
The deadline to submit artwork to Hospice Cup, Inc. is January 15, 2012. The judging will be done by popular vote. All submitted artwork will be on display at Maryland Federation of Art’s Circle Gallery from January 25th to Fe uary 12, culminating in a reception and winner’s announcement on Fe uary 10th. Artists may submit their original work of “Racing and Sailing Representations” by contacting Karma O’Neill, Hospice Cup, Inc. Executive Director at 410-919-8393.
The winning artwork will be the representational image for the 2012 Hospice Cup event and will appear in promotional advertisements, videos, event t-shirts, and posters. Hospice Cup has regional exposure with participating hospices representing Washington, DC, Northern Virginia, Calvert County, Anne Arundel County, Montgomery County, Prince George’s County, and the Eastern Shore.
While the chosen image will become the property of the Hospice Cup, Inc., the winning artist will receive full recognition for the image. The image will also be donated to the 2012 Shore Party Auction following the Hospice Cup XXXI race to help raise funds for hospice services.
In 2011, Hospice Cup sponsors raised nearly $200,000, and almost $8 million has been raised over the last 30 years. These dollars enable the hospices to provide skilled compassionate care, comfort and dignity to the terminally ill, their families and friends, regardless of their ability to pay. Hospice enables patients to carry on alert, pain-free lives so their last days may be spent in comfort, at home or in home-like settings. Funds also help support bereavement counseling, children’s bereavement camps, and support groups after the loss of a loved one.
Hospice Cup is the largest fundraising regatta in the United States and is the original hospice regatta. It is also a proud member of the 26-regatta National Hospice Regatta Alliance, www.hospiceregattas.org.
